    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.parkersoft.co.uk/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=1089" rel="nofollow">Daniel</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 7503<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 20 Jul 2009 at 9:24am<br /><br /><DIV></DIV>In the Standard &amp; Professional editions of WhosOn, you cannot create the Named User accounts.&nbsp; This is reserved for the Enterprise / XSP version.<DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>This means you can grant access based on server / group / site levels.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Each site can set a username &amp; password.&nbsp; This username &amp; password will grant access to this site.&nbsp;&nbsp; If the same username &amp; password pair is used for two sites, then it will grant access to both these sites.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Each Group can also have its own username &amp; password.&nbsp;&nbsp; A group can contain an unlimited number of sites.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>The group username &amp; password grants access to all sites in the group.&nbsp;&nbsp; The restrictions on the permissions in the group area apply to any user logging in with a username &amp; password from one of the group's sites.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>A group username &amp; password can also be the same as another site's password, so that cross group / multi-group logins can be used, and a layout as below can be created:</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>Group A : u= test p= test</DIV><DIV>&nbsp; Site 1: u=test1 p=test1</DIV><DIV>&nbsp; Site 2: u=test2 p=test2</DIV><DIV>Group B: u=test1 p=test1</DIV><DIV>&nbsp; Site 3: u=test p=test</DIV><DIV>&nbsp; Site 4: u=test2 p=test2</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>This would mean, logging in as:</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>test would give me Site 1, Site 2, Site 3.</DIV><DIV>test1 would give me Site 1, Site 3, Site 4.</DIV><DIV>test2 would give me Site 2, Site 4.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>It is also possible to log in with the admin user from the server.&nbsp; This will automatically grant access to all sites on the server.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>The CAL that you purchase are always (regardless of edition) for the number of users that can log in at one time, regardless of the number of user / password combinations that have been created.</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV><DIV>&nbsp;</DIV>]]>
