   Q: How Technical do I need to be to run an installable edition for live chat and stats?

A: You need to know what the following terms mean:

DNS record
IP address
Domain name
Javascript

You need to know:

Your outgoing mail server details ( IP / DNS, Port, Authentication Details)

Your own external IP

You need to be able to:

Configure IIS (especially if not installing on a dedicated machine; on a dedicated machine nothing needs to be done)

Configure your firewall  router to forward traffic to the WhosOn machine
